Where's The Kid

How Where's The Kid works

A small daily habit, backed by a system that does not give up.

Setting up (about five minutes)

  1. Sign in with your Google account. The app is free, with no trial and no card.

  2. Create your family. Add your phone number and turn on WhatsApp if you want alerts there too; both are optional.

  3. Add your child: first name, daycare and a deadline for each weekday, plus who is responsible that day.

  4. Invite the other parent with the six-character code, and add emergency contacts and the daycare by email or WhatsApp if you want.

  5. Send yourself a test alert so you know what it looks and sounds like.

A normal morning

A few minutes before the deadline you get a friendly reminder. You drop your child off and tap "Dropped off", in the app or right on the notification. That's it: the check is closed and nobody is disturbed.

A morning that went differently

If the deadline passes with no confirmation, the escalation ladder starts. Each step is louder and reaches more people. The moment anyone confirms, everything stops.

Trip mode

Driving somewhere outside the usual schedule? Tap "Child in car" and set a timer. If you do not confirm "Child is out of the car" in time, the same escalation begins.

Every step is logged

Each check keeps a timeline of what was sent, to whom and when, and who confirmed. Both parents can see it in the app.

The escalation ladder

Gentle first. Then impossible to miss.

The recommended preset below. You can make it gentler or more aggressive, change every step and choose who gets each one.

  1. −10 minFriendly reminder before the deadline
  2. +0 minPush notification to the responsible parent
  3. +4 minWhatsApp message to the responsible parent
  4. +6 minPush and email to both parents
  5. +12 minWhatsApp to both parents
  6. +15 minWhatsApp and email to your emergency contacts
  7. +20 minWhatsApp to the daycare

Any confirmation stops the ladder at once.

SMS and phone calls are not available in the free version for now.
