Where's The Kid

For parents of young children

Every morning, one clear answer: did the kid get to daycare?

Where's The Kid asks for a quick confirmation by your drop-off deadline. If nobody answers, it keeps escalating, from push notifications to WhatsApp, email and the other parent, until someone does.

Why this exists

It happens to loving, careful parents

Every year children die of heatstroke after being left in a parked car. In most of these cases the parent did not mean to leave the child. The routine changed, the morning was rushed, the child fell asleep quietly in the back seat, and the drive went straight to work.

A note on the dashboard or a toy on the front seat helps on a good day. On the day it matters most, a reminder you have to notice yourself can fail.

Where's The Kid turns "the child arrived" into an event someone has to confirm. If it is not confirmed, the app does not stay quiet.

How it works

Three steps, set up once

Set the schedule once. After that, the only thing you do is confirm.

  1. Set the schedule

Add your child, the daycare and a deadline for each weekday, for example 08:30 on Sunday to Thursday. Choose which parent is responsible on each day.

  2. Confirm the drop-off

Tap "Dropped off" in the app or on the notification, or open the confirmation link in the WhatsApp message or email. Not going today? Tap "Not going today" and the check is skipped.

  3. No answer? It escalates

If the deadline passes without a confirmation, the app reaches out again and again, louder each time, until a parent answers.

The escalation ladder

Gentle first. Then impossible to miss.

The recommended preset below. You can make it gentler or more aggressive, change every step and choose who gets each one.

  1. −10 minFriendly reminder before the deadline
  2. +0 minPush notification to the responsible parent
  3. +4 minWhatsApp message to the responsible parent
  4. +6 minPush and email to both parents
  5. +12 minWhatsApp to both parents
  6. +15 minWhatsApp and email to your emergency contacts
  7. +20 minWhatsApp to the daycare

Any confirmation stops the ladder at once.

SMS and phone calls are not available in the free version for now.

Both parents

Two parents, one shared answer

Invite the other parent with a six-character code. Both of you see every check and every step, and you decide whose confirmation counts.

Two phones, each showing the same check markRead more about two-parent mode
  • Responsible parent first

The parent on duty that day is contacted first; a confirmation from either parent closes the check. This is the default.

  • Any parent

The first parent to confirm closes the check.

  • Both must confirm

The check stays open until each parent has confirmed. Each parent's alerts stop when they confirm.

Privacy first

We never track where you are

The app works from your confirmation, not your location. It needs only what it takes to reach you.

  • No location tracking

Optional, on-device location reminders only. Your phone notices arriving at daycare or leaving home by itself, with no continuous tracking and no map of your family's movements.

  • No photos of your child

A first name and a schedule. That is all we store about your child.

  • Your data is not for sale

Small ads on quiet screens keep the app free. We never sell your data, and alerts go through our messaging providers only to reach you.

  • Delete anytime

Delete your account from inside the app and your data goes with it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does Where's The Kid do?

It creates a drop-off check for each school or daycare day. A parent confirms that the child arrived. If nobody confirms by the deadline, the app escalates by push notification, WhatsApp and email, then to the other parent, your emergency contacts and the daycare, until someone answers.

How do I confirm a drop-off?

Tap "Dropped off" in the app or on the notification, or open the confirmation link in the WhatsApp message or email. Any one of these closes the check.

What happens if nobody confirms?

The escalation ladder starts at the deadline: push notifications, then WhatsApp, then push and email to both parents, then WhatsApp and email to your emergency contacts and the daycare. The last step repeats every few minutes until someone confirms, for up to an hour.

Does the app detect my child in the car?

No. It does not use sensors or Bluetooth, and the optional location reminders only notice arriving at daycare or leaving home. It relies on a confirmation from a parent, and escalates when that confirmation does not come. It does not replace your own attention or a car-seat alert device.

Is Where's The Kid a guarantee?

No. It is a reminder and alert aid that adds a safety net to your routine, but alerts depend on your phone, networks and third-party services, so they can be delayed or fail. Where's The Kid is not an approved child-presence alert device as required by law in some countries (including Israel and Italy) and does not exempt anyone from installing one where required. You remain responsible for your child. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Do you track my location?

No. Location is optional. If you turn on location reminders, your phone itself detects arriving at daycare or leaving home, with no continuous tracking, and the app shares only an event such as "arrived at daycare at 08:12" with your family, never coordinates. Your home place never leaves the phone.

Is Where's The Kid free?

Yes. It is free for the whole family: both parents, all your children and every alert channel the app offers. Small ads on quiet screens pay for the servers and alerts.

Why are there ads?

Ads keep Where's The Kid free, so every family can have this safety net whatever their budget. You may see one small banner on quiet screens such as Settings or the alert history. We never show ads on alert or confirmation screens, or while a check is escalating.
